Trump Signs Executive Orders to Boost Nuclear Power... How Will Our Future Change?

On May 23rd, stocks involving nuclear energy and uranium began to surge as Trump signed executive orders to help boost the industry. Currently there are only 54 commercially licensed nuclear power plants in the U.S. Nuclear energy is known to emit 0 pollutants during production, so it's generally considered clean. What may happen to the economic appreciation of nuclear energy, the overall environment of the earth due to the use of nuclear energy, and the companies that possess relevance to nuclear energy.

Possible harm to the Environment

One major issue with nuclear power plants is the fact that radioactive materials like uranium have to be stored after use because of the danger it can cause to the human body and environment, after long periods of time, the uranium can start to decay and cause physical issues within the human body. Even though this is a clean energy source which is most needed due to an increase in global warming within the past century, the effects of adding even more power plants can still be detrimental to the population of U.S citizens.

Economic and Social Appreciation

It seems that nuclear power plants will quantify, and have higher usage than some other electricity generation methods. As of now, it's not possible to determine if nuclear energy will be the most abundant in the future, but there are a few reasons why it is likely. Currently, the U.S.A is a highly developed country with significant advances in technology meaning we have the resources to create these power plants. Due to its weather dependency, it can provide energy 24/7. Also, construction and maintenance is cheap, it is quick to build, and it's very safe (referring to the fact it emits no air pollutants).

The Future of Nuclear Power for The People

A lot of things could play happen, since this is relatively new, there isn’t much information on how trump plans to sustainably set this up, based on the current benefits and issues with nuclear energy, an increase in power plant usage could help stop lots of air pollution, but could possibly have some long term harmful effects later on. Economically, the value of industries involved with nuclear energy production will likely continue to rise and become more affluent. Jobs in the industry will also increase with  higher demands of production being put into nuclear power plants. Trump's orders can help many individuals gain some financial independence through jobs in the field.

Conclusion

Trump's attempt to improve nuclear power has economic benefits. social benefits at the cost of the environment. Since it’s relatively new, it seems Trump’s plan may benefit in the short term for economic independence and reliable power, but in the future, our environment can deteriorate possibly costing us the lives of many, and possibly our planet.
